About The Event

Creative Balance is a unique program that is designed to provide mental and emotional balance for children between the age 8-11years.   Over 7 weeks our focus is to teach techniques to reduce stress for young people through a combination of meditation, affirmation, dance, stress relief techniques and creative art.

Port Stephens has the highest rates of mental and behavioural problems in NSW. The prevalence of experiencing a mental disorder is highest in young adults aged 16-24 (Slade, Johnston et al. 2009).   Creative Balance has been developed to prevent stress/anxiety in our children before they reach their teens and unable to cope, to teach them the tools and techniques to create inner balance.   Problem solving skill are invaluable especially when working with emotional reactions.

Presented by Geraldine Zadkiel, Heart Connection and Sarah Brown, Creative Corner.

Geraldine Zadkiel, a qualified kinesiologist and founder of Heart Connection - A Self Empowered

Approach to Health.  Geraldine has been working with the conscious and  subconscious patterns, specialising in Anxiety, Depression, PTSD and Childhood Trauma for over 15 years.

Geraldine's passion is to deliver "interactive programs” such as Workshops, Retreats, Online Courses and Individual Sessions for Adults and Children.  Programs that provide "practical tools and techniques”  that empower you to change how you feel each day and to work through strong emotions to become calm and centred.   These techniques are so empowering for children to be able to develop their emotional intelligence, confident to manage any situation.  We will address issues such as bullying, unexplained feelings and anger, trouble sleeping and worrying about adult issues.

A bit about Sarah.   Drawing and painting are my two favourite  modes of meditation. I love how with a brush in my hand I can escape the real world and create something totally wonderful and wild! On days when I have been sad or worried I can draw and unwind. It’s very rewarding as you have a work of art at the end... and feel better! I leave my worries on paper or canvas and start fresh again next time I’m in a mood.  Creative Balance is about demonstrating to children that through their own art making process they can discover and learn about the different emotions they are experiencing.  Geraldine and I both share a passion. We hope to pass on our knowledge of good mental health practices that have helped us both personally and professionally.  The art making process is calming and relaxing in itself. Each week the kids will be doing something completely different ie a subject following a different practice. We aim to show the children who attend Positive ways of processing thoughts and feelings through art and a bit of movement and dance. It’s going to be great fun! Children will be telling their friends on the playground how awesome creative balance is!  Art is a great tool to utilise when working with kids. They can slow down and explore ways of expressing themselves in a constructive 2D form
